Branford Celebrates First Night 2024
A roaring bonfire on the Branford green and festive live entertainment from the Showmobile helped set the stage for the community to come out and celebrate First Night 2024 on Jan. 5, hosted by the Town of Branford and Branford Parks and Recreation.
Branford Arts, Culture & Special Events Coordinator Colin Sheehan kicked off the evening with special thanks to the Branford Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments for assisting with the event-filled evening.
Other local support was provided by Branford First Congregational Church, Ace Trailer Rental, and Dennis Nardella (sound equipment). The night’s live concert kicked up the energy with The Sin Sisters, who Sheehan congratulated on being newly inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame. First Night’s dazzling ice sculpting display was carved out by Ice Matters (Cheshire). Guilford’s Tripledale Farms brought in the event’s petting zoo.
Guests gathered to get warm within the safely managed perimeter of the blazing bonfire in front of Town Hall, managed and overseen by members of Branford Fire Department. The crowd was also treated to free S’mores and hot chocolate to share in the spirit of the new year.
