North Branford Police Department Unveils Advanced Radio System to Elevate Public Safety

Press Release, North Branford Police Department

The North Branford Police Department is thrilled to announce the activation of its cutting-edge radio system, a significant step in enhancing public safety communication within the town and across the state.

This comprehensive system is integrated with the "Connecticut Land Mobile Radio Network" (CLMRN), managed by the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, providing unparalleled radio coverage throughout North Branford and extending our communication reach statewide.

Operating on a 700 MHz and 800 MHz P25 Digital radio platform, the new system supersedes the outdated analog system and aging dispatch consoles. It substantially increases interoperability with public safety agencies in neighboring towns and throughout Connecticut, fostering more effective emergency response coordination.

The state-of-the-art equipment, including vehicle radios, portable radios, and dispatch consoles, was supplied by Motorola and installed by Northeastern Communications Inc. of Naugatuck, CT.

Chief Kevin Halloran expressed his gratitude, saying, "I want to extend my deepest thanks to Mayor Angeloni and the entire Town Council for their unwavering support of the Police Department. Their commitment has been instrumental in the realization of this project. This new radio system is more than just an upgrade in technology; it's a pivotal enhancement in our capability to ensure public safety. It will allow us to respond more swiftly and effectively to emergencies, ensuring a safer environment for our residents."

The implementation of this radio system reflects North Branford's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of public safety and emergency response. With improved communication tools, the Police Department, along with Fire, DPW, EMS, and the public school system's security, are better equipped to serve and protect the community.
