RiverLane Partners with CFMCounty to Promote Mental Wellness

The RiverLane, a clothing boutique in Essex, partnered with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (CFMC) on Nov. 9 to raise awareness of organizations providing mental wellness assistance throughout the region. The RiverLane owner Robin Zubretsky’s passion for the community and mental wellness brought patrons, friends, and local community champions together for conversations, shopping, and a desire to give back.

Cynthia Clegg, president and CEO of CFMC, said, “We know that mental health resources are vital to the wellbeing of all in our community. We are grateful to Robin and the RiverLane for shining a light on the nonprofits who are providing these invaluable services.”

Two organizations, Old Saybrook Youth and Family Services and Westbrook Youth and Family Services, were selected for grants from the wide array of nonprofits providing essential mental wellness aid to those living and working within Middlesex County. Old Saybrook Youth & Family Services is committed to promoting the positive and healthy well-being of the Town’s youth, families, and senior citizens. Westbrook Youth & Family Services provides support through coordinating and providing a comprehensive delivery system of prevention, intervention, treatment, and follow-up services. The grants were made possible by the CFMC 365 Fund, a fund where neighbors and friends pool their collective gifts of $1 a day ($365 a year) to make our community a better place than it already is. The CFMC 365 Fund harnesses the energy and resources of everyone in our 15 towns to build a Better Today and a Brighter Tomorrow.

In addition to the grants, Zubretsky announced that she would be donating a percentage of the store’s proceeds from the three-day shopping event, as well as her own personal contribution to further enhance mental wellness resources in Middlesex County.

“Robin personifies ‘Good People Doing Great Things’ in our community, and we are proud to partner with her,” said Clegg.

“Mental wellness is very important to me, and I knew I wanted to help those within the community I love. I reached out to Cynthia to learn more about the work of the Community Foundation and to discuss how I could directly improve the lives of those here in our community. I am so grateful to the residents of the shoreline for embracing the RiverLane. It is because of them that I prefer to give back to causes surrounding our local communities,” added Zubretsky.
