Police Investigating After Guilford Home is Struck by Bullets

Guilford Police are continuing to investigate after a home on New England Road was struck by gunfire on Oct. 24.

According to a statement from the Guilford Police Department, officers responded to a report of a residence being shot at overnight at 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 25. Following a preliminary investigation, police discovered that the home, located near Guilford High School, had been struck by at least two projectiles around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 24.

“We can confirm that a home was struck by gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 24. No calls were received at that time, although several residents later reported hearing something around that time,” said Chief of Police Christopher Massey. “The homeowner found damage to the home [the morning after the incident] around 6:30 a.m. and called the police. Although the home was occupied, there were no injuries.”

Officials said it appears to be an isolated incident and “there is no active threat to the public at this time.”

Massey said that while the home is located near the high school, the school does not appear to have been specifically targeted.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and Massey said area residents are asked to review any security footage.

“We are seeking the public’s assistance with checking home surveillance video in the area of New England Road and Long Hill Road between 11 p.m. and midnight for any suspicious activity or vehicle traffic,” Massey said.

Police responded to a similar incident on Dec. 22, 2022 on Fernwood Drive after a residence was struck with several rounds from a firearm. According to Massey, the incidents do not appear to be linked.
