Branford Veterans Day Parade Steps Off Sunday, Nov. 5

The annual Branford Veterans Day Parade will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5. A ceremony will be held on the Branford Green at 1 p.m., and the parade will set off at 1:30 p.m.

The 2023 Parade Marshal is Major Joseph T. Corradino, retired, Connecticut Army National Guard. Corrandino currently serves as the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Fairfield.

Corrandino served in the Connecticut Army National Guard from 2002 to 2019, retiring with the rank of major. His military awards include the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the Connecticut Medal of Merit. Among numerous civic activities, Corrandino currently serves on the Branford Board of Ethics.

Corrandino will speak at the ceremony and lead the parade. The parade route begins at the Branford Green, heads west on Main Street to North Harbor Street, and then returns back to the green.

Units of the Branford Police Department will escort Parade Marshal Corradino ahead of parade units which will include the American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Color Guard, Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps, VFW Post #12106, Corcoran-Sundquist Post #83, American Legion, 2nd Company Governor’s Foot Guard, Branford officials, state officials, and guests; military vehicles including a Quad 50 Anti-aircraft Mount, Blue Star Mothers CT-3, Take a Vet Fishing, Branford High School marching band, East Shoreline Catholic Academy, Branford Garden Club, Boy Scouts of America Troop 428, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cub Scouts, antique and vintage cars, Branford Elks Lodge #1939, Branford Lions Club, and Branford Fire Companies.

In case of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved to the Branford High School gym at 185 East Main Street, beginning at 1 p.m.
