Three-Year-Old Wounded After Shots Fired Into East Haven Home

The East Haven Pollice Department (EHPD) is investigating a shots fired incident that took place on Massachusetts Avenue on Oct. 21 in which a three-year-old child suffered a graze wound while laying in bed.
On Oct. 21, at approximately 1:16 a.m., the East Haven Public Safety Dispatch Center received a 911 call from residents on Massachusetts Avenue who reported hearing several gun shots in the area. Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that a dark-colored SUV being operated by an unknown individual was seen traveling southbound on Massachusetts Avenue before an occupant opened fire out of a passenger window as the vehicle sped by. Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and are following up on several leads. The child was treated on scene by East Haven Fire Department personnel before being transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The East Haven Police Investigative Services Division responded to the scene and went out to canvas the neighborhood. Detectives are available to talk to any witnesses of this incident. The EHPD is asking residents to check their video surveillance systems for any dark colored SUVs that may have driven by their residence in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and surrounding neighborhoods from approximately 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Oct. 21.
