10/20/2023 06:36 PMTickets are available now to take up a tasty invitation to “Branford Gets Fed: A Tasting Event to Support Branford,” which will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at a new location, Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club (POYCC) in Branford.
The annual event features a broad array of tempting dishes to try from a variety of the area’s best restaurants and purveyors and has sold out quickly in past years. It’s moved to POYCC to allow for even more to attend and enjoy the evening, but tickets do sell out fast, said Community Dining Room (CDR) fundraising coordinator Courtney Rosenberg.
Tickets, at $50, are available now at communitydiningroom.org (click on the ‘Fundraising’ tab), or by calling 203-488-9750, ext. 3.
With its goal to provide “more than just a meal,” CDR will be co-hosting the Branford Gets Fed event with Branford Microfund for the first time this year, said CDR Executive Director Judy Barron. All proceeds from the event will help to raise much-needed dollars to feed and support local residents, said Barron.
“Cooperative fundraising is crucial for community-based non-profit organizations during these economic struggles, and Branford Gets Fed is a great way to let one of our community partners bring awareness and raise funds together,” said Barron. “As I always say, CDR feeds the body, and our community partners help to feed the souls of our neighbors in need. Together, we continue to make a difference.”
To help residents overcome unexpected financial obstacles, non-profit Branford Microfund offers interest-free loans of up to $3,000, which can be repaid over as many as 30 months. Learn more about this all-volunteer group at branfordmicrofund.org
Based in Branford, not-for-profit CDR provides thousands of nutritious meals annually, as well as support and companionship, to food-insecure residents in Branford, North Branford, East Haven, and Guilford.
Rosenberg said each business signed on to join Branford Gets Fed is excited to be contributing their best to build this popular program’s crowd-pleasing variety of tempting dishes. Local businesses filling Branford Gets Fed include Parthenon Diner Restaurant, La Cucina Prepared Meals & Catering, Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club, Mosaico Cuisine, Boar’s Head, Crostini Breakfast and Lunch, Home Restaurant, Platinum Prep Meals, The Stand, Kamana, Branford High School Culinary Program, Petonito’s Pastry and Cupcake Shoppe, Missy Sweets, and Doma on Main.
“We’re very grateful and glad that we can help showcase their businesses and show the community that these businesses are supportive of the community,” said Rosenberg.
