Beatlemania Coming to Clinton
Looking to support a good cause and attend a good show? The Clinton Rotary Club’s Back to the Future: Beatlemania fundraising concert on Saturday, Nov. 4, will raise money to support the local club’s efforts.
The concert will feature two bands in The Morgan School theater located at 71 Killingworth Turnpike. The headlining act will be Number 9, a Beatles tribute band, while a pre-show reception will feature music from We3 Band.
The main show starts at 8 p.m. while the pre-show reception starts at 6 p.m. The pre-show will feature hors d’oeuvres and nonalcoholic drinks.
Tickets for the event cost $30 for adults 18 and older and $15 for students and children. Tickets are available now on clintonrotaryct.com and will be available for purchase at the door the night of the show.
“The ticket gets you admittance to both the main show and the pre-show, so we hope folks come early and enjoy the reception,” said Tony Raucci, the director of the event. “We3 Band plays everything from Frank Sinatra to rock and roll. They’re a really great band we think people will enjoy,” Raucci said.
The money raised by the show helps fund different initiatives of the Clinton Rotary Club. “The Rotary is an international nonprofit organization. The local club gives back to Clinton as well as surrounding communities,” Raucci said.
Raucci highlighted the Rotary’ charitable efforts, including local scholarships, programs with Families Helping Families, the food pantry, and help with families who are battling cancer.
Raucci said the main show will run about 90 minutes with no intermission and will feature a medley of the Beatles music from 1964-’70.
“If you like The Beatles’ early stuff, middle stuff, late stuff, or whatever, you’re going to hear something you like,” Raucci said.
Asked what he enjoyed most about the show, Raucci said people will be impressed with Number 9’s sound.
“I’ve been doing this for 35 shows. This is the best Beatles tribute band I’ve ever heard,” Raucci said.
Additionally, Raucci noted the acoustics of the theater at the school. “Morgan has a fun theater that has everything a director could hope for from an audio-visual standpoint,” he said.
As for particular songs, Raucci said he did make one request for his favorite Beatles song: Twist and Shout.
While the music will, of course, have a powerful nostalgic pull for anyone who hails from the era when the Fab Four’s music was first released on records, Raucci said that younger audiences will also appreciate the music.
In fact, he said that some Morgan School students will be on hand to help out with the event.
“Morgan actually has a culinary and catering class and students will be cooking and serving the food at the event which I think is great,” Raucci said. “I figured the Beatles transcend generations. Kids today still love The Beatles, and I hope we get some younger people to come to the show as well,” Raucci said.
Raucci first conceived of the show after the club did a similar fundraiser in 2022 that Number 9 played at. “They were amazing, and I thought it would be great to feature them at a show,” Raucci said. “It’s going to be a great night, and I hope people come out to see it.”
