A view of North Branford’s incumbent-heavy sample ballot for the Nov. 7 municipal election lists the same political makeup and nearly exactly the same membership that will be making up the next nine-member Town Council.

To build North Branford’s next nine-person Town Council, six incumbent Republican Town Council candidates will be joined by two incumbent Democrats and one new Democratic candidate. A total of nine candidates will appear on North Branford’s municipal election ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The council’s uncontested 2023 election will result in the same Republican majority makeup for North Branford’s next Town Council, which will serve a two-year term. Based on the most votes received, the election will also determine North Branford’s next mayor and deputy mayor among all 2023 Town Council candidates. Currently, North Branford’s GOP-majority Town Council is led by Mayor Jeffrey Macmillen (R) and Deputy Mayor Thomas Zampano (R).

On Nov. 7, North Branford electors will also be asked to vote to fill three seats on the Board of Education, for which there are three Democratic candidates and one Republican in the race. North Branford’s BOE uses staggered terms to maintain its seven-person board.

Following the state-required candidate balloting process, the following order of candidates will appear on the Nov. 7 North Branford municipal election ballot:

Democratic Town Council candidates: Craig Miller (D), Marie Diamond (D), Bruce Abelson (D).

Republican Town Council candidates: Thomas P. Zampano (R), Ronald Pellicia Jr. (R), Jeffrey Macmillen (R), Walter Goad (R), Rose Marie Angeloni (R), Nick Palladino (R).

BOE candidates on the ballot in order of appearance are:

Democratic BOE candidates Judy Bannon (D), Jana Balsamo (D), Victoria Lanza (D).

Republican BOE candidate Kim Dawson (R).
