09/20/2023 08:52 AMPress Release from the Madison Jaycees
The Madison Jaycees host an annual Madison Masters Golf Tournament every June at the Madison Country Club, with the proceeds traditionally reserved to support families with young children in need. According to Jaycees Golf Tournament Chair Kieran Doherty, this year, recipients of a $10,000 donation will be the Summa-Barbour family of Guilford.
The funds will assist in providing support as the family attempts to navigate the unimaginable difficulties of a leukemia diagnosis for their youngest daughter Camryn.
According to the Jaycees, “The Summa-Barbour family lives in Guilford and is comprised of Courtney (mom), Donald (dad), and two young daughters. Camryn is the youngest of the two at just 6 years old. While this family lives in Guilford, they have a large extended family throughout the shoreline. Many people know Courtney as she is a dedicated teacher at Baldwin Middle School. In April, Camryn was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.”
Jaycees President Wes Barnes expressed the organization’s gratitude to the entire shoreline community, which has come out in force to support this family.
“Every resident who signs up to run in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day participates in our Dave Parcells Triathlon in September, golfs in our Madison Masters Golf Tournament, or takes the ‘plunge’ in April during our Spring Splash event has had a hand in helping this family, and so many others along our shoreline community. This is the finest example of a community caring for itself,” Barnes said.

Shantel Lynn Berg of SLB Photography in Westbrook is holding a fundraiser for the family on Sept. 22, 23, and 24 called Candids for Camryn, during which she will offer photography sessions and donate 50% of each session to the Summa-Barbour family. SLB will also provide 100% of the proceeds from all extra images purchased to the family. For more information about the event, visit www.slbphotographyct.com/promotions-events.
