Press Release, smART Fest

Over 55 vendors will be on the Branford Green on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise funds for Wreaths Across America – Branford Cemeteries. National Wreaths Across America Day 2023 will be Saturday, Dec. 16 and wreaths will be placed on veterans graves on all seven Branford Cemeteries.

Last year, smART Fest was cancelled due to weather. This year, the event has come back stronger, with even more vendors. smART Fest is a juried show which has some very talented artisans from all over the state. Some of the vendors include Donna Richards from Misty Cove Soaps offering vegan soaps, Kristy Benson of Bittersweet Farms from Killingworth offering unique teas to soothe, delight and comfort, Anne Rodd Johnson from Hello Dolly Momma selling a full line of doll clothes, Andrea from Bogue Farms with selection home jellies and jams, Angela from Angela’s Kitchen offering sauce with no sugar or preservatives and from Branford, Ryan from Necker’s Farm will be selling some of the finest honey, Stacie McCarthy from Hats A Wrap with adorable knitted hats, sweaters and booties.

Music will be provided by Jack & Kathie of Sweet Meadow, offering some good ol’ bluegrass tunes starting at 11 a.m.

smART FEST brings arts and education together. The Branford Early Learning Center is sponsoring a book themed pumpkin decorating contest. To register email: Bfdpumpkincontest@gmail.com.

Carolyn Stearns, author, public speaker, and storyteller for kids and adults, will have her latest book Christmas Letters, Loved Ones Separated by War available for sale at the event and will read some excerpts about the letters. Her other books include How Far is Safe?, Mystic Girl, and Thirteen Spooky Stories from Mysterious CT.

Aaron Elson, an author and oral history audio book author on World War II, ordinary people in extraordinary times, will also be on the green.

This year’s menu will include cannolis, chowder, macaroni and cheese, and hot dogs all provided by local not-for-profits St. John Bosco Women’s Group and Knights of Columbus, M.P. Rice Hose Co. 2 Volunteer Fire Department, and the Branford Historical Society. Please stop by and support these local groups.
