North Branford Observes POW-MIA Recognition Day

On the morning of Friday, Sept. 15, local leaders joined in remembering North Branford’s only missing in action (MIA) casualty, Army Sgt. 1st Class James Edward Creamer, who went MIA on April 21, 1968 in Thua Thien Province in Vietnam.

Sept. 15 was National POW-MIA Recognition Day. On that day, people gathered at the North Branford Prisoners of War (POW) monument to remember Sgt. 1st Class Creamer’s service and sacrifice, including town councilors Rose Angeloni and Nick Palladino, Mayor Jeff Macmillen, Army Sgt. 1st Class Tomas Gomez, veteran Andy Macmillen, Town Manager Michael Downes, and veterans Bill Savastano and Chuck Larkins.

Andy Macmillen was close friends with Sgt. 1st Class Creamer and they both enlisted in the Army together during the Vietnam conflict.
