Democratic voters turned out on Sept. 12 to select which candidates would appear on the Nov. 7 ballot for the Board of Education (BOE). Lori Mansur and Amanda Gabriele secured the most votes for BOE candidacy, and Thais Moore received the most votes for a BOE vacancy candidacy, according to unofficial tallies provided by the North Haven Registrar of Voters.
For the full-term seat, Heidi Avila and Mansur were endorsed by the party. Gabriele's candidacy triggered the primary. Mansur received 496 votes, and Gabriele tallied 479 votes. Avila received 373 votes. Mansur and Gabriele will be placed on the November general election ballot.
One two-year vacancy was open to fill the seat of a Democrat who had resigned in 2022. While Moore was appointed to fill that seat, both Moore and Frederick Rodriguez were endorsed by the party to finish the term. Moore received 443 votes in the primary to Rodriguez's 313 votes.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
