EHPD Makes Arrest in Risk of Injury to Child Investigation
Press Release from East Haven Police Department
An arrest has been made in a risk of injury/enticing a minor investigation conducted by the East Haven Police Department (EHPD) Investigative Services Division.
During the month of June 2023, EHPD Detective Fred Sego initiated an investigation into an individual, later identified as Matthew Bissonnette, 33, of Cromwell, who was communicating with what he believed to be an underage female. During the course several sexually explicit conversations, which were initiated by Bissonnette on a popular messaging app, Bissonnette continually made attempts to meet up with who he believed was the underage girl, but was actually Detective Sego, at various locations, including her home, hotels, and finally his residence, at which time an arrest warrant affidavit was submitted.
Bissonnette was taken into custody without incident on Aug. 25. He was transported to the EHPD, where he was processed.
Bissonnette was charged with risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer. Bissonnette was held on a $250,000 and is scheduled to appear in New Haven court on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
