American Legion Post 48 to Dedicate Freedom Monument Sept. 10
Press Release from American Legion Post 48
The public is invited by American Legion Post 48 as they dedicate their memorial stone and plaque, Tribute to Freedom Monument, on Sunday, Sept. 10, at the town marina at 11 a.m. The organization placed the monument last year to honor the personnel and everyday people who lost their lives on 9/11.
According to Senior Vice Commander Fred Brisbois, the Freedom Monument pays tribute to the military, first responders, government employees, and ordinary citizens who, on 9/11 and thereafter, responded to the war on terror to ensure the preservation of our freedoms.
“We are proud to be able to place this monument here, facing the same waters that once saw those attackers challenge us,” said Brisbois.
The dedication will take place at the town marina Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. There will be a celebration lunch and dance following the dedication at the Guilford VFW Hall, 104 Mill Road, Guilford.
