CT Water Company Seeks Clinton Resident for Council
The Connecticut Water Company is looking for a Clinton resident to serve on its advisory council. Anyone interested can apply on the town website.
At the Town Council meeting on Aug. 16 Town Manager Karl Kilduff announced that there was a vacancy on the company’s advisory board and that the town would need to appoint someone. Whoever is appointed needs to be a Clinton resident and a customer of the Connecticut Water Company. The chosen candidate cannot be an employee of the company. Anyone interested can apply on the town’s website under the form to apply for boards or commissions.
Although the application is on the town website, the advisory council is not actually overseen by the Town of Clinton but by the Connecticut Water Company.
Dan Meaney, director of public affairs and corporate communications for the Connecticut Water Company, said the council meetings are held virtually and scheduled every to six months. He said the next meeting is scheduled Aug. 24, after press time for this article.
Meaney explained that the council is made up of customers who are appointed to represent their town. “The purpose is to provide an opportunity for the company to update customer representatives from the towns about projects, policies and procedures that may impact water quality or service, and for us to receive feedback from the council members. This will help us improve communication, learn about the needs and priorities of customers and better coordinate in the towns we serve,” Meaney said.
According to its website, the water company provides service “to more than 107,000 customers in 60 Connecticut towns” in addition to wastewater service in the town of Southbury. Locally, the company serves Clinton, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, Madison, Killingworth, Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Guilford.
The company’s headquarters is at 93 West Main Street, Clinton.
