The Branford Board of Education has announced the appointment of Allison Moran as the next assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for the Branford Public Schools.
Moran brings with her nearly 20 years of experience from the Westport Public Schools, where she currently serves as the coordinator of elementary curriculum, a position she has held since 2020. Prior roles in Westport include math and literacy resource teacher, mathematics specialist, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. Additionally, Moran served as interim assistant principal at both the elementary and middle school levels.
Moran has proven her strength with curriculum and instruction leadership through navigating the design and implementation of significant shifts in curriculum across content areas. Her collaborative nature and understanding of high-quality curriculum design have made her a reliable colleague to building and curriculum leaders at the elementary and secondary levels. Moran is described by colleagues as an innovative, student-centered leader who has the talent to inspire positive change.
“I am thrilled to join Branford Public Schools as assistant superintendent,” Moran said. “In my initial interview, I asked a panel of 12 educators what makes them proud to be part of this community. Their answers revealed that Branford is a special place where learning, growth, and a strong sense of pride unite educators and parents. I am honored to contribute to this remarkable team and eagerly anticipate learning and growing alongside our students and educators.”
Moran holds a B.A. in elementary education and sociology from the University of Rhode Island and an M.A. in educational technology from the University of Connecticut. Additional studies include a sixth year in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.
“Throughout a competitive and rigorous interview process, Ali proved herself to be the perfect fit as the next assistant superintendent in Branford,” said Branford Superintendent Christopher Tranberg. “It is clear that Ali’s skills as a leader of teaching and learning, coupled with her ability to establish positive relationships with colleagues and community members, will help the district move forward with the goals established in the Strategic Coherence Plan. I am pleased to welcome Ali to Branford and know she will contribute to the future successes of our learning community.”
