A Foundation for Community Giving
Press Release from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County
You really don’t have to be a billionaire to make a meaningful difference where you live, work, or play. All it takes is a desire to help and a love of local. Community foundations make it easy for everyone to be a philanthropist and create a personal legacy. We recognize that each donor is unique, with varied backgrounds and a wide array of interests. Some are individuals or entire families who want to give back to the community they love. Many are groups of people connected by a common cause or specific project, and others are businesses that realize the value of providing a hand-up for current and future generations. While areas of interest and size of gifts may vary, donors all share the same passion: improving the quality of life for all, now and forever. At the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (CFMC), we celebrate all who partner to ensure long-term support for our local nonprofits and the evolving needs of our communities.
No one has a crystal ball, and understanding how needs and issues vary from year to year, and knowing which local organizations may benefit from support, can often be tricky without the help of a “community expert.” CFMC’s staff strive to be those experts in the field of “Live Local Give Local” and provide a personal and efficient way to assist a wide variety of worthy causes and unforeseen opportunities. That’s why many donors choose to establish an unrestricted endowed fund through CFMC, ensuring flexibility in grant-making to a broad range of interest areas on pressing issues in the community — today and well into the future. These generous gifts to unrestricted funds allow us to meet today’s challenges and provide support for what tomorrow brings. For example, this year, there has been an increased demand in services to help our young people thrive and move forward following the past few trying years. Grants from unrestricted funds have aided the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development of babies and toddlers, offered early literacy and health intervention clinics for young children, and provided opportunities for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn new skills and develop healthier lifestyles. These are only a few examples of the positive youth development and major impact made by “unrestricted” fund donors and the important work being done by our local nonprofits.
At the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, the power of partnership fuels innovative giving and positive outcomes across a wide spectrum of interest areas, including animal welfare, arts and culture, civic improvement, community enrichment, education, the environment, health, recreation, and social services. We celebrate all our valued donors — individuals, groups, and businesses, who put their hearts and dollars to work to help their community thrive. We are honored to help them create a legacy of love, hope, and connection for a Better Today and Brighter Tomorrow for all. CFMC is proud to be accredited with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations®, the nation’s highest and most rigorous standard for philanthropic excellence. We invite you to learn more about how you can help make a meaningful difference where you live, work, or play.
