Some Scenes of Summer in Branford
From Branford Parks and Recreation campers enjoying a foam fest on Park Day to the latest on the Foote Park splash pad and fun family photos from a favorite town activity, Zip06/The Sound has been gathering some scenes of summer shared by readers.
Branford Parks and Recreation Director Alex Palluzzi Jr. shared photos of progress at the new splash pad during installation this summer at Foote Park on Melrose Avenue. As of press time, the pad was set to open to the public as of July 31, with some availability limited during summer camp season (for more information, visit branfordct.m+yrec.com).
Work by Branford Public Works and Parks and Recreation personnel to prepare the site began April 25, with initial elements starting to go into place during the week of July 17. The $350,000 Town of Branford capital project received funding from a matching grant from the Foote Memorial Trust.
Palluzzi also shared a summer-fun photo of campers enjoying a foam party during Park Day at Hammer Field. The field is one of four parks hosting Branford Parks and Recreation’s 2023 summer camp programming, which enrolled approximately 250 campers ages 6 to 12.
This summer’s busy showmobile stage on the Branford Green set the scene for a family photo submitted by reader Kristen Russo, after a friend grabbed a great candid of Russo’s daughter, Ellie Battles, 2, sharing some time with her dad, Paul Battles, during his performance with The Syndicate during a Branford Parks and Recreation Monday Music on the Green summer music event.
