Ashley Marinaro Named Assistant Principal of Walsh Intermediate School

It is with great enthusiasm to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ashley Marinaro as assistant principal of Walsh Intermediate School (WIS).

Marinaro brings with her 10 years of experience in Branford as the district’s curriculum coordinator for grades 5 through 12. Additionally, Marinaro has over nine years of experience as a literacy coach and an English teacher working in school districts in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Marinaro is a skilled facilitator with proven leadership in collaboration and team building. As curriculum coordinator, Marinaro oversaw the development of standards-aligned, teacher-written curricula in English language arts, math, science, social studies, and world language.

Under her leadership, the intermediate and high schools have implemented instructional models based on comprehensible input in world language, phenomena-based units in science, inquiry design in social studies, and readers/writers workshop in English.

Marinaro is currently working toward her educational doctorate degree at Northeastern University, holds a sixth-year degree from Quinnipiac University, and a master’s from Boston College. Additionally, she holds a Connecticut Administrative License and a Connecticut Secondary Professional Certificate for grades 7 through 12.

Marinaro shared, “I am thrilled to take on this new role as assistant principal for Walsh Intermediate School and assume greater responsibility to drive the school’s vision for academic excellence and student success. I am excited to collaborate more closely with the faculty, staff, students, and parents of WIS to promote a culture of well-being and lifelong success for all of our students.”

Superintendent Christopher Tranberg stated, “Ashley’s passion for teaching and learning and skill as a curriculum leader will greatly benefit WIS. With experience as a member of the District’s Strategic Planning Committee and Teacher Evaluation Committee, Ashley’s talents will help move the important work of the district forward and make a positive difference for the learning community. We are pleased to welcome Ashley in her new role.”
