Madison Summer Concert Series Kicks Off with USCG Band
The town’s Beach and Recreation Department has announced its Summer Concerts on the Green schedule, which will kick off in grand fashion with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Band on Sunday, June 25, at 6 p.m. The series will officially start July 9, run through the end of August, and include bands from across the musical spectrum.
According to Beach and Recreation Director Austin Hall, this is the second year in a row the town will be hosting the USCG band and the ensemble is sure to delight attendees with their internationally renowned sound.
“This is the premiere Coast Guard Band, 55 members in the ensemble, and we are honored to host them and have here in Madison,” said Hall. “It’s a big deal to get the U.S. Coast Guard Band. They travel the world and all over the U.S., so to have them stop here and perform for the shoreline is a privilege and an honor.”
Hall encouraged patrons to visit area restaurants before the show or to order out and bring dinner and then set up shop on the Town Green for a great evening of music.
“We definitely want people to come out and enjoy this. Folks should stop in a local restaurant, get a pizza…or bring a picnic dinner. This is the kickoff to the summer concert series, so this will be a special event,” said Hall.
This concert is being hosted in conjunction with American Legion Post #79.
“We are hosting this in collaboration with the American Legion. They provide all the chairs for the musicians, and the Legion is a tremendous partner. It’s really an honor to have them perform in town. The band has such a rich history, and we are thankful for Post 79 for partnering with us and help us provide this opportunity for the community,” said Hall.
Concerts on the Green are held on Sundays at 6 p.m and are free. Alcohol is not permitted, but attendees are encouraged to bring food, lawn chairs, and blankets to enjoy the shows.
Following the June 25 performance by the USCG Band, concerts continue on Sunday, July 9, with a performance by The Taxmen. The schedule includes performances by Backstage Pass on July 16, Morgan Skelly and the Old Crows on July 23, Nightshift Band on July 30, Wild Night-Bon Jovi Tribute Band on Aug. 6, The Tracy Walton Band on Aug. 13, Last Licks on Aug. 20, and The Kerry Boys on Aug. 27.
Three concerts will be held at Salt Meadow Park, 1362 Boston Post Road, on Fridays starting in July at 6 p.m. The schedule includes Carribbean Vibe LLC on July 14, Shoreline Connection on Aug. 11, and Free Play on Sept. 15.
