06/06/2023 02:03 PMThe First Congregational Church of Madison, 26 Meetinghouse Lane, Music at the Meetinghouse, presents ChoralFest 2023 on Sunday, June 11, at 4 p.m. This sacred music festival featuring 100 voices from area church choirs will sing individual anthems and three combined pieces. These will be accompanied by piano, organ, trumpet, trombone, cello, and timpani.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the adult choir of the First Congregational Church of Madison participated in an annual choral festival comprised of other congregational church choirs.
Many choirs – both professional and non-professional – across the state and the nation have seen reduced attendance during and since the pandemic, and some have even stopped singing altogether. As they work to rebuild their numbers, this new ChoralFest is designed to celebrate and support sacred choirs from various denominations in the area. Participants include choirs from the Madison Congregational Church, the North Madison Congregational Church, St. Margaret Catholic Church in Madison, Old Stone Church in East Haven, First Church of Christ in Clinton, St. George Catholic Church in Guilford, and Zion Episcopal Church in North Branford.
This event is free and open to the public.
