05/31/2023 10:32 AMA reported backyard brush fire quickly evolved into a massive structure fire, destroying a large, free-standing garage on Forest Road in North Branford during the late evening on May 30.
According to reports from North Branford Fire Department (NBFD) Company 1, at 10:30 p.m. on May 30, Fire Company 2 (Northford) was dispatched to the 600 block of Forest Road/Route 22 for the reported brush fire in a backyard.
The report, shared by North Branford Police Department (NBPD) at its Facebook page, noted that within minutes of the call, police units reported a large garage fire, heavily involved, at the rear of 658 Forest Road.
Additional fire response assistance was made by NBFD Company 1 and Company 3 (Northford).
To fight the fire, NBFD Co. 1 stated, “Initial arriving units laid in, placing multiple lines in service. Company 1 arrived establishing water supply, and sent its crew to assist with fire suppression operations. Mutual aid tankers were requested from Durham and Guilford.”
The scene was under control as of 11:55 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by NBPD and the office of the North Branford Fire Marshal.
