“We’ve had a record year at our store for sales, and so we are proud to announce that so far this year, we have given $75,000 to our charities." said Homemaker board president Pat Mansfield. “We just want to thank all our consignors and our patrons for doing a great job.”
Mansfield said the board feels several factors contributed to create a boost annual revenues that have reached a record $150,000 this year. The factors range from shoppers seeking continued bargains due to the high cost of living, to the revitalization of businesses at the Brushy Hill Plaza, such as the addition of a coffee shop.
Homemaker’s gift of $75,000 in funds has been distributed among local charitable organizations including Branford Food Pantry, Community Dining Room, Branford Counseling & Community Services, Orchard House Medical Adult Day Center, Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter and Branford Medical Transport.
Organized in 1976, non-profit Homemaker Thrift Shop raises funds by taking in contributions of items for resale through the store, located at 4 Brushy Plain Road. Each year, all thrift shop sale proceeds benefit local Branford charitable causes.
Homemaker volunteers donate their time to help stock inventory contributed by community members and others. Many of the volunteers have been with Homemaker's for numerous years.
