Students at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School practice Washin-Ryu Karate twice a week as part of a Westbrook Parks and Recreation program that runs through May 24. Classes have been taught for the last 22 years by 7th-degree black belt Steve Ballachino (left), who is a student of Washin-Ryu founder Master Hidy Ochiai.
