Local Bands Support Legion’s Veterans Outreach Program

On March 7, RePlay band members Bob Barrett, John Hennelly, Fred Muzer, and Lynn Sasso presented a $1,500 check to Madison’s Griswold Post 79 American Legion. Commander Charlie Corso accepted the donation that will help fund the Veterans Outreach Program.

Most of the money was collected at RePlay’s and Patriot Sound’s performances this past summer at Madison’s Farmers Markets on the Green, Beachcombers Night, plus an August 27 Madison Historical Society event that included local bands Skunk Misery Ramblers, The Vinyl Brothers, and Jazz Guitars Duo.

Mike Piccione (Patriot Sound) and Muzer (U.S. Navy veteran) have solicited donations in the past but felt that highlighting this presentation might encourage others to support veterans groups. As RePlay drummer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Bob Barrett said, “There’s a new generation of vets out there in need. With Iraq and Afghanistan in our rearview, I worry that this generation will be forgotten like our Vietnam-era folks.”
