In Branford: New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Available for Public Use
Press Release, Town of Branford
The Town of Branford partnered with FLO®, one of the largest EV charging networks in North America, to install Level 2 charging stations at various municipal properties throughout town. Through an incentive program provided by Eversource the town received $53,366 in incentives toward the cost of the project.
The charging stations located at Branford Counseling & Community Services, Daniel Cosgrove Animal Shelter and Branford Fire Headquarters will serve the town of Branford’s growing fleet of electric vehicles and provide accessible and convenient options for residents and visitors alike. In addition, plans are moving forward for the installation of an EV station at Foote Memorial Park.
To access these chargers, a customer can download the FLO EV Charging App on their smartphone or purchase a FLO Card from the FLO website www.flo.com All payments must be made through the app or website, the EV chargers do not accept credit card payments at the charging sites.
Tyler Bowne, Sustainability and Compliance Manager stated, “The town is excited to offer these additional resources to our community. This charging infrastructure project is an important step in reaching our goals of increasing Branford’s ability to support electric vehicles and lowering Green House Gas emissions. ”
First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove stated, “This is another demonstration of our town’s commitment to moving together towards a more sustainable future. Increased competition, government incentives and falling prices on lithium and other battery materials are making electric vehicles and charging stations more affordable. The availability of EV stations on public properties are a vital resource to accommodate the growing number of EV vehicles within our community.”
