After a three-year hiatus, the Branford Education Hall of Fame (BEHF) will induct 10 new members into the Class of 2023 on Thursday, April 27 at The Woodwinds in Branford.
Since its birth in 1998, BEHF has honored over 230 individuals, as it has taken a broad view of the term “education,” recognizing 10 individuals each year whose special work has enhanced and facilitated learning. While the Hall of Fame has honored teachers and public school administrators, it has also inducted other deserving individuals who have made significant contributions in the field of education in the town of Branford.
The BEHF Class of 2023’s 10 deserving individuals include; Tracey Ann Amodio, elementary physical education teacher; Beatrice G. Brown, elementary teacher and paraprofessional; Bob Gaiser, Branford High School (BHS) administrator and first director of the Horizons program; Richard Hurlburt and Leslie Hurlburt (posthumously), School Yard Habitat/Pine Orchard School; Jean Kelley, Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) educator and Brian’s Hope founder; Patricia Schwab Mooney, Walsh Intermediate School (WIS) language arts teacher; Diane Pappacoda, Branford Early Learning Center educator and director; Susan W. Rood, WIS world language teacher; Suzanne Serviss, BHS social worker; and Elaine F. Brainerd (posthumously), BHS nurse/educator. Unfortunately, Richard Hurlburt, Patricia Mooney, and Susan Rood will not be able to attend the induction ceremony.
The BEHF Class of 2023 dinner will take place Thursday, April 27 at The Woodwinds, 29 School Ground Road, Branford, at 6:15 p.m. (cocktail hour, 5:15 p.m.) Tickets, $50 per person, are available by contacting Alex Palluzzi, Jr. at the Branford Community House at (203) 488-8304.
