Press Release, North Branford High School

On February 25, three exceptional North Branford High School (NBHS) music students traveled to Storrs to rehearse and perform with the University of Connecticut (UConn) Honor Band.

NBHS instrumentalists Aislinn Aiken (flute), Alex Shadman (alto saxophone) and Grace Westefeld (flute) all performed as part of the UConn Honor Band.

This event was held at the Storrs campus and students spent the day working on four challenging pieces of music.

Students were directed by Dr. Janet Kim, Director of the UConn Wind Ensemble, and Commander Adam Williamson, Director of the Coast Guard Band.

In addition to rehearsing and perfecting their music for the evening concert, students were given the opportunity to take part in instrument-specific master classes with UConn faculty, and even had a Q & A with current UConn students from a variety of majors.
