Bank Robbery at Essex Bank in Madison; Police Seeking Witnesses

The Madison Police Department has issued an alert and a press release regarding a bank robbery that occurred at the Essex Bank at 99 Durham Road on Friday, Feb. 24 at approximately 10:50 a.m. At this time, police investigators are actively seeking assistance from any member of the public who may have witnessed anything regarding this event.
The suspect fled the area in a maroon-colored Subaru station wagon with a tan-colored front bumper that traveled south on Route 79/Durham Road and “possibly onto Interstate 95 in an unknown direction,” according to Madison Police. The suspect is described by police as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches and 160 pounds with a tan complexion. Investigators said that he was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, possibly with an NFL Raiders logo, and gray sweat pants.
According to Madison Police Department spokesperson, Lt. Jeremy Yorke, the offender did not brandish a weapon and no one was injured in the brazen daylight robbery. Police said after handing an employee a note, he got away with an undisclosed sum of cash.
