02/22/2023 09:16 AMThe Killingworth Library, 301 Route 81, will host a presentation by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on Sunday, March 5, from 2 to 3 p.m.
NAMI Ending the Silence is a free, evidence-based youth mental health education and early intervention program that engages audience members in a discussion about mental health based on real-life experiences. In this one-hour presentation, audience members will learn about mental health through a brief informative presentation, short videos, discussion groups, as well as personal testimony from a parent’s perspective and a young adult who describes their journey to recovery.
With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, NAMI staff and volunteers work tirelessly to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy, and support group programs for people living with mental health conditions, their loved ones, and the community at large.
This program is geared toward parents and caregivers of middle or high school-aged youth. It includes information about signs, facts and statistics, helpful tips on how to talk with your child, and how to work with school staff. It also provides connections to local, statewide, and national resources.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required. For more information, visit killingworthlibrary.org.
