Arrest Made in Burglary of North Haven Home
On June 18, 2022, North Haven Police Department officers responded to a home on Lynette Drive for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it appeared that the suspect had used a recycling bin to elevate themselves through a first-floor window and then forced entry into several locked doors within the home.
Patrol officers interviewed witnesses and canvassed the surrounding area for evidence. North Haven detectives were assigned to follow up and discovered similar characteristics to other burglaries in and around North Haven.
After sharing information with other area agencies experiencing similar burglaries, a suspect was developed. Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for 38-year-old Xuanting Yan of Hamden, who was charged with burglary in the third degree and larceny in the sixth degree. Yan was arrested on Jan. 23 and held on a $75,000 bond. He will be transported to Meriden Superior Court.
