In commemoration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Public Art for Racial Justice Education (PARJE) and the March for Justice unveiled a new PARJE mural at Seaside Wine & Spirits in Old Saybrook on Jan. 16. A group of about 60 people gathered outside of Penny Lane Pub for remarks from David Addams, executive director of the Graustein Memorial Fund, before walking to the unveiling. The mural, painted by Jasmine Oyola honors indigenous culture. Here, Oyola explains the mural’s symbolism and her inspirations for the mural.
