01/05/2023 11:13 AMThe Guilford Conservation Commission will be hosting a public meeting regarding a draft management plan for the Timberland Preserve as part of its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. via the Zoom meeting platform.
The Town of Guilford contracted with Furrucci & Walicki, LLC Forestry and Land Management Consultants to update the Timberland Preserve Management Plan. Furrucci & Walicki, LLC created a draft report which provides recommendations regarding how the preserve should be managed to maintain vigorous and diverse forest cover, enhance forest resilience, provide recreational experiences for the public, enhance wildlife habitat for a variety of species, help maintain balanced and properly functioning ecosystems, maintain historic features where appropriate, and maintain aesthetic qualities, all while keeping the protection of water quality and soil integrity.
The Commission is looking for public comments regarding this plan before it is finalized.
A copy of the report can be downloaded from the Town website under Conservation Commission. Anyone with questions may contact Environmental Planner Kevin Mageeat 203-453-8074 or mageek@guilfordct.us.
