First Night Branford: Sin Sisters, Bonfire, Ice Sculptures and S’more

First Night Branford is coming back to the town green -- roaring bonfire, hot chocolate, ice sculpting station, Sin Sisters, and s’more.

The free event, set for Friday, Jan. 6 from 6 - to 7:30 p.m. on the Branford green, is sponsored by the Town of Branford and Branford Parks and Recreation.

Colin Sheehan, Branford Arts, Culture & Special Events Coordinator, said it’s become the community’s favorite way to kick off the new year.

“Its cold, but people bundle around the bonfire. It gets people outside, seeing each other, hearing live music, and supporting local,” said Sheehan.

He said attendees will find the return of many favorite elements, including hot chocolate and S’mores, an ice carving station, food trucks and the high energy vocals of The Sin Sisters, who also performed at Branford’s inaugural First Night in 2019.

“And of course, we have the bonfire,” said Sheehan.

Branford Fire Department personnel will once again man First Night Branford’s iconic bonfire (which the public can view from a safe perimeter set up in the center of the green). Branford Police, Branford Public Works and Branford Parks and Recreation will also once again provide essential support services for a successful First Night Branford event, which gets bigger every year, said Sheehan.

“All the departments work to ensure that this is a night that’s safe and fun for everyone,” said Sheehan.
