Garden Club Announces Holiday Boutique
The Guilford Garden Club (GCC) hosts its annual Christmas Boutique on Friday, Dec. 2 from 10a.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. George Church Parish Center. It will feature a wide selection of holiday and Christmas themed items for sale, including wreaths, illuminated shell trees, center pieces, and much more.
According to GCC member Suzanne Anastasio, the boutique will also feature a bake sale of all homemade goods and a themed basket raffle as well,
Volunteers are already at work crafting gifts for the boutique, and the wreaths in particular won’t be festooned with an “ordinary bows,” according to a a post on GCC’s Facebook page.
“These are big, fluffy, works of art that will go on the wreaths along with other wonderful embellishments that make each wreath unique!”
The basket raffle will feature themed baskets like a “Baby Basket” or “Italian Basket” “filled to the brim” with themed goodies for the lucky winner, Anastasio said.
The Guilford Garden Club uses proceeds from this annual project support GGC civic projects including scholarships, community plantings, and numerous greening projects, according to Anastasio.
“All proceeds are given out in a number of community projects and scholarships,” said Anastasio. “People will really enjoy the crafts for sale and it’s a great opportunity to get something at the bake sale. Our members will have a lot of different items for sale at the Boutique, it’s quite an event.”
The Candlelight Walk will be held on Broad Street from 6 to 9 p.m. The Club decorates private homes along Broad Street with wreaths and lighted roping on fencing. Residents are invited to participate and be part of the celebration.
This event coincides with the annual Tree Lighting on the Guilford Green, which will also take place on Dec. 2. For more information on the tree lighting, call 203-453-8068.
