Ceremony Honors Branford Police Department Members

On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Branford’s Board of Police Commissioners, Branford Police Chief Jonathan Mulhern, and First Selectman James Cosgrove honored the men and women of the Branford Police Department (BPD).
Information and photos shared by BPD at its Facebook page noted the honorary event recognized BPD’s officers, telecommunicators, police social worker, and neighboring agency officers from East Haven Police Department. Commendations were presented for commitment to service, bravery and continued dedication to protecting and serving the Branford community.
Among the awards presented were those recognizing officers and dispatchers for their heroic actions on April 13, 2021 during the active shooter incident in Branford; the location and apprehension of a quadruple homicide suspect; several incidents in which officers located and seized firearms from violent individuals; and those for lifesaving efforts successfully administered, among others.
“We would like to thank all the officers, dispatchers, and civilian personnel who continue to work hard 24/7/365 to provide service and safety to those who live, work and travel through Branford,” BPD stated at its Facebook page. “We would also like to thank our community for their continued support.”
BPD also included special thanks to members of The New Haven County Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes and Drums band, for performing at the ceremony. The evening ceremony was held in the auditorium at Branford’s Walsh Intermediate School.
