Edward Raymond Courtney, Jr.
On Nov. 6 Edward Raymond Courtney, Jr., a longtime Guilford resident, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born at the Hospital of St. Raphael on July 4, 1945, son of the late Edward Raymond Courtney, Sr. and Julia (Gilloren) Courtney.
Loving husband of Jean Allen Courtney for over 45 years; loving father of Daniel Courtney (Emily) of New Britain and James Courtney of Guilford. He is also survived by Renee (Chuck) Schulze of Wells River, Vermont; and grandchildren, MJ, Megan, Finn, and Emma; as well as many cousins.
Mr. Courtney was a 1963 graduate of Notre Dame High School and Fairfield University in 1968. Most of his career as a corporate accountant was spent at Pirelli-Armstrong Tire Company in New Haven.
He will be fondly remembered for his keen Irish wit, his quiet gentleness and his great love of his family. He was an avid reader, board game collector, and cat lover.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Grace Episcopal Church, 336 Main Street, Old Saybrook. Burial will take place privately.
