The family-friendly Holiday Train Show exhibit is back at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex for its 29th year. The members-only opening and the Museum Shop member Holiday sale are on Monday, Nov.21 at 5 p.m. The exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Train artist Steve Cryan brings more trains, new scenery, and lots of surprises to be found in the fully operational 26-foot model train layout. Visitors are challenged with the “I SPY” scavenger hunts for objects hidden both in the train layout and the entire third floor. The American Flyer and Lionel train layout is specifically designed for toddler size viewing. An outing to this locomotive extravaganza is perfect for train fans and River fans alike. Nestled among the tracks are local Connecticut landmarks, handcrafted by Cryan. Sponsored by Lorensen Auto Group and Webster Bank, the exhibit runs through Feb. 19.

"We look forward to welcoming guests to the museum for the 29th annual train show exhibit. Each year, this beloved tradition draws families that have made this show part of their holiday celebrations," shared Connecticut River Museum Marketing Director Jane Raunikar.

The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 860-767-8269 or visit ctrivermuseum.org.
