Election Night Returns: Branford
Branford supported Democratic candidates on Nov. 8 including returning incumbent Democratic State Representative Robin Comey to the 102nd District House seat and incumbent Senator Christine Cohen back to her 12th District seat.
Branford voters selected Democrat Chuck Tiernan as the next Judge of Probate representing the 35th District of Branford-North Branford.
In the race for the open seat for the town’s 98th State Representative district, vacated by the night’s winning Democratic State Comptroller candidate Sean Scanlon, Democrat Moira Rader prevailed.
Branford election night results gave Comey 5,991 votes over 4,556 received by Republican challenger Ray Ingraham for the 102nd seat, which represents most of Branford. In the state senate race, Cohen earned 7,396 winning votes to best Republican challenger Paul Crisci, who took 5,662 votes.
Pine Orchard/Stony Creek voters represented by the 98th District State Representative (Guilford/Branford) elected Rader with 1572 votes over GOP challenger Richard Dinardo, who earned 1213 votes.
In the race to seat a new Judge of Probate due to the retirement of Judge Frank Forgione, Tiernan earned 7,624 votes over Republican candidate Al Ippolito, who received 5,604 votes.
Branford voters turned out at the polls on Nov. 8 to cast their ballot among the town’s 23,509 registered voters eligible to vote in the November 8, 2022 elections.
