EHPD to Participate in National Drug Takeback Oct. 29
The East Haven Police Department (EHPD) will participate in a national drug take back event on Saturday, Oct. 29 in the lobby of the police department.
According to a press release from East Haven Police Captain Joseph Murgo, residents are encouraged to drop off any unused or expired medications at the EHPD, 471 North High Street, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
“Safe disposal of these medications ensure they do not end up in the wrong hands or in our water supply,” Murgo said.
The DEA’s National Prescription Take Back Day is a twice annual nation-wide event designed to encourage the public to remove unneeded medications from their home. While Oct. 29 is the national event, the DEA’s website, deatakeback.com, also provides a link for locating year-round public disposal locations.
According to the DEA, a national take back day held in April 2022 had participation by 4,427 law enforcement agencies with 5,144 collection sites. More than 700,000 pounds of drugs were collected.
