Chamber Honors Hoey with Leadership Award
First Selectman Matt Hoey was presented with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce 2022 Legislative Leadership Award in New Haven. Hoey was cited for his efforts not only as first selectman, but also for his major involvement with Tweed New Haven Airport, the South Central Regional Council of Governments, and the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM).
Hoey said the recognition was an honor, but he also cited others who had contributed support to the area’s economic development.
“I am honored to receive this award I want to thank the greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and any of my legislative partners I’ve worked with together on regional issues who may have supported me in garnering this award. I am humbled as well to be in the company of those that have received this award in previous years, including my good friend and mentor early in my tenure, Mike Freda, who I believe has won it twice,” Hoey said. “I’d also like to thank my fellow members of the Guilford Board of Selectman…for their willingness to work to build consensus. In the five years the current board has been together, we have had less than a handful of votes that weren’t unanimous. I’ve often said public service is a noble endeavor, even if it is not very lucrative, and I am thrilled to be in a position where I can work with so many other great leaders to benefit our respective communities and the greater New Haven region.”
