Sybil Creek Bridge Closure Starts Oct. 17
Residents living in areas of Branford who regularly traverse Indian Neck’s Sybil Creek Bridge are going to have to plan to add some time to their commute. Beginning Monday, Oct. 17, the state will shut down the bridge for a deck replacement anticipated to last 14 days.
On Friday, Oct. 7, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) notified the Town that Route 146 (South Montowese Street) will be closing at the Sybil Creek Bridge beginning Oct. 17 as part of the bridge replacement project.
During the work, traffic will be rerouted on both sides of the bridge. In particular, traffic on Linden Avenue at the intersection of Sybil Avenue will be directed to detour via Sybil Avenue, following Limewood Road to Hotchkiss Grove Road and onto Pine Orchard Road to Montowese Street to reach the town center or South Montowese Street..
Public inquiries about the project should be directed to DOT Project Engineer Matt Briggs at Matthew.briggs@ct.gov.
