At its regular meeting on Sept. 6, members of the North Branford Town Council unanimously voted to appoint Nicholas Palladino as a member of the Town Council.

Palladino, a Republican, replaces Michael Downes, who was elected as a Republican council member in 2021. As previously reported, Downes stepped down from the council on Aug. 15 in order to accept the position of North Branford Town Manager. Downes was hired by the council on Aug. 16 and scheduled to begin his new role at Town Hall Tuesday, Sept.13.

Palladino will now serve the remainder of Downes’ two-year term on the council, which concludes with the November, 2023, elections.

Palladino was sworn in on Sept. 6 by North Branford Town Clerk and Interim Town Manager Lisa Valenti.
