Roof Repairs Underway at Hagaman
Thanks to a grant administered by the Connecticut State Library, roof repairs are underway at Hagaman Memorial Library.
Work began at the library on Sept. 2 and is expected to continue over three to four weeks. While construction is underway, patron parking will be limited to the front part of the library’s parking lot. The back parking lot will be closed, and patrons are advised not to park in the Stop and Shop parking lot bordering the library’s rear lot.
According to a press release from the library, the front and/or back public entrances to the library will be closed at times during the repair work. Patrons should follow markers on where to enter the building.
Work will be focused on replacing three flat roofs, performing scope repairs on the sloping tile roofs, and waterproofing brickwork.
Funding for the project was made possible through a Public LIbrary Construction grant, a matching grant program administered by teh Connecticut State Library. The Connecticut State Bonding Commission approved $159,m375 in funding, representative of 50 percent of the total cost of the repairs. The other 50 percent is provided for in local matching funding from the Town of East Haven, the Hagaman Memorial Library, and the Friends of the Hagaman Memorial Library.
The library building, located at 227 Main Street, East Haven, dates to 1928.
