Dinardo Announces Candidacy for 98th District
Guilford and Branford Republicans have a new State Representative candidate for the 98th District as Rich DiNardo has announced his candidacy for the open seat.
“I am grateful for the huge support I’ve received from family, friends, and residents of Guilford and Branford,” said DiNardo. “I’ve always been a very practical, problem-solving person and look forward to taking on the problems facing our state. I’m particularly eager to talk with voters and small business owners to hear directly from them about their concerns.”
Rich DiNardo decided to run for office because he was concerned about the direction of the State—particularly the impact of state policies on small businesses and working families, the weakening of local control of schools and zoning, the rights of parents to determine the best interests of their children, and Connecticut’s rising cost of living.
“If we don’t address these issues, opportunities will eventually disappear for all but the wealthiest of our citizens and, especially for their children, to remain and thrive in our beautiful state,” said DiNardo. “For years we have seen jobs and residents leave the state as the business environment has deteriorated, and the state has become more unaffordable,” said DiNardo. “By bringing a people-first, locally focused, common-sense approach to the legislature, we can secure a brighter future for Connecticut.”
An attorney, businessman and published historian who has lived in Guilford for 27 years where he his wife and two children still reside, he holds a bachelor’s degree in American history from Cornell, a master’s degree in international relations from Cambridge University, and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. DiNardo worked his way through graduate and law school building and operating small businesses in Connecticut, including a plastics factory and printing supply company, he is particularly attuned to the needs of small family businesses and the people they employ. The 98th District includes the Towns of Guilford (south of Route 80) and coastal Branford.
