Bar Fight Leaves One Dead, One Injured
An East Haven billiards bar remains closed following a weekend shooting that left one person dead and another injured.
East Haven Police were called to BullsEye Billiards & Bar, 655 Main Streeet, on Aug. 6 at approximately1:36 a.m. on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police determined that an altercation inside the bar turned physical and ultimately lead to the shooting. Two victims were located and treated by personnel from the East Haven Fire Department before being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.
One victim, identified by police as Julius Bolden-Lowe, 25 of Southington, later died at the hospital. just The condition of the second person is unknown.
The bar, formerly known as Crown East Billiards, closed its doors for the weekend following the shooting.
“We have remained closed in order to consult with various security experts and to take the immediate actions necessary in order to provide a safer environment for everyone,” owners Dave and Rosa Clough wrote in a statement posted to the bar’s Facebook page on Aug. 8.
“Our hearts go to the young man who lost his life and his grieving family,” they wrote. “Our family has worked tirelessly during the past five years to make this a friendly environment for everyone. We appreciate your continued support and your trust in us that these new security measures will keep everyone safe.”
A reopening date had not been announced.
