Branford Garden Club Flower Show at Community House Sept. 24-25
Some events are so amazing they only happen once every four years. The Olympics, leap year, presidential elections and “The Branford Garden Club Flower Show” Don’t miss your opportunity to attend this exciting event.
This year, our Flower Show theme is “Gardens Around the World”. The Branford Garden Club will take you on a trip to some of the world’s most fascinating and beautiful gardens.
The purpose of a flower show is to educate its members and the public, stimulate interest in horticulture and design, provide an outlet for creative expression, and to communicate the Garden Club’s goals and objectives.
Education is at the heart of all Garden Club projects. During the year members participate in projects that benefit Branford and its residents. We support our town through civic development projects, awards to local businesses, and home owners for exceptional gardens, working with the Branford Early Learning Center, holiday decorating of the Blackstone and Willoughby Wallace libraries, flowers for the Community Dining room, and numerous donations to other worthy organizations.
Flower Shows provide an opportunity for Garden Club floral designers, amateur horticulturists, and educators to express and share their knowledge with each other and with Branford residents.
This year, the floral designers will create interpretations of famous gardens from Italy, Spain, Japan, the USA, and more.
Horticulture enthusiasts will exhibit fresh plant material from members and local amateur gardeners.
Educational exhibits will feature environmental issues, invasive plants, our own Branford Community gardens, and more.
Artistic crafts will include objects decorated with fresh and dried plant material.
Imaginative garden photographs taken by club members will be displayed in the photography section.
To round out the show there will be a “Market Place” that will showcase over two dozen venders from Connecticut and around the world. Featuring garden related items and accessory Treasurers!
Please join the Branford Garden Club at this year’s Flower Show to enjoy the “fruits” and “flowers” of our labors.
