Rep. Comey Reminds Families of Child Tax Rebate Deadline

State Representative Robin Comey (D-Branford) is urging families to apply for the 2022 Connecticut Child Tax Rebate that was included in this year's state budget which is providing residents with a state tax rebate of up to $250 per qualifying child for a maximum of three children.

Comey is reminding Connecticut residents that the July 31 deadline is fast approaching, and qualifying households must fill out an application to receive the benefit.

"State residents who claimed at least one dependent child up to 18 years of age on their federal income tax returns for 2021 may be eligible and are encouraged to apply," Comey said. "If you have a child born before January 1, 2022, and haven't yet applied, there is still time to apply to receive your check."

The tax payment is available to single parents who earned less than $100,000 and two-parent households that made less than $200,000 during the 2021 tax year, and head of household filers with an income less than or equal to $160,000. To apply please go to the 2022 CT Child Tax Rebate through the CT Department of Revenue Services (DRS) https://portal.ct.gov/DRS - https://egov.ct.gov/drschildrebateform/.

Comey said, "If anyone needs information or assistance with their application, please feel free to email me at Robin.Comey@cga.ct.gov, and I will be happy to help."
