$4.5M State Funding Secured for New North Branford Police Facility
North Branford Police Department and the Town of North Branford will be receiving $4.5 million dollars through the state of Connecticut for the building of North Branford's new, state-of-the-art police facility.
Chairman Victor Pietrandrea and the North Branford Police Commission, Chief Kevin Halloran and Deputy Chief James Lovelace have been working with State Representative Vincent Candelora (R, 86) on this project from its conception. Rep. Candelora and chairman Pietrandrea have been collaborating on this potential funding for some time, and we are excited to see it come to light. Representative Candelora has been an integral partner and stakeholder throughout this process and we cannot thank him enough for all he has done for the police department and Town of North Branford.
Rep. Candelora proposed this funding on our behalf, and chairman Pietrandrea wishes to thank Rep. Candelora for his dedication an unwavering support and leadership to the Town of North Branford and the North Branford Board of Police Commissioners [and for] delivering this funding to the Town of North Branford to ensure a state of the art police facility and public safety services to the residents of North Branford.
"This is a very positive development that all local and state leaders worked hard together to make happen," Rep. Candelora stated."We are grateful for the response from Hartford because this project has been made a priority. A lot of effort has gone into the development of the police station and we look forward to the day when it will be completed."
We'd like to thank State Senator Christine Cohen (D, 12) for her support in the Connecticut Senate and supporting this funding initiative and bringing back this critical funding to the town. The partnership with her office and this administration is a cooperative effort which we value highly here at the North Branford Police Department.
Reporters Note: As previously reported, North Branford's new police facility will be built on Town property at 305 Forest Road. In 2021, the Town Council amended an orginially approved total bonding appropriation of $8,525,000 to allow for appropriating up to $12,250,000, if needed, for the project to continue to go forward. In March 2022, North Branford was named the recipient of $1 million in federal funding to put toward the new facility's state-of-the art Emergency Operations Center.
